Spotlight on Alice Walker
Alice Walker is an African–American poet and an
author.She was born on February 9, 1944, in Eatonton,
Georgia. Walker worked as a teacher,
lecturer, and a social worker.She also
participated in the 1960s Civil Rights Movement in Mississippi. In 1983, Walker won the Pulitzer Prize for
Fiction for her 1982 novel, The Color Purple.
