R. A. Montgomery, co-founder and publisher of the Choose Your Own Adventure books, passed away on November 9. As a child, I enjoyed these books because I was able to control of the story!
How did it work? You would start the story and read to a point where it would ask you to make a decision. Once you made your choice, you would turn to the page indicated. Next, you would face another decision that would lead you to another page further in the book. This would continue until the end of the story. Depending on which story you chose and the decisions you made, you either learned a lesson, saved the day, or met an unfortunate end.
