Basic edits to Word, Excel, and Powerpoint documents are now free on your iPhone

If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can create documents and do basic edits to some Microsoft Office documents on your phone for free.

All you need to do is to download the Office apps you'd like to your device and create a free Microsoft account if you do not already have one.

If you want to do more heavy-duty editing, you'll still need to subscribe to Office 365.

This will be available on Android devices in the future.
